This family, based in Branson, has received attention as international touring and recording artists and they play everything from bluegrass to classical and their show features a huge variety of instruments. In addition to their instrumental virtuosity, the Duttons are accomplished singers and dancers and have been recognized as superb vocal talents.

Today we journey to the city of Mesa to attend a great dinner theater. We will enjoy a delightful lunch buffet and then settle in for the matinee show at the Broadway Palms Dinner Theatre. Brigadoon is about a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years. Two American tourists, lost in the Scottish Highlands, stumble upon the village just as a wedding is about to be celebrated, and their arrival has serious implications for the village’s inhabitants. Southern Arizona Ramble

We have put together a few sights and special places south of Tucson and have come up with a really wonderful ramble. We begin our day with a journey to the San Xavier Mission. This National Historic Landmark was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Kino in 1692 and is a delight to visit.

Then we enjoy a hearty lunch at the Cow Palace Restaurant in Amado. This place is filled with old West ambiance! Next we make a stop at the Spice Factory to stock up on all of those hard to find (and common) spices. Then we attend the 53rd annual Tubac Arts Festival. Enjoy browsing the tents and booths set up throughout the village that houses over 175 artists from around the country!  Come enjoy this really nice ramble with us!

Frank Lloyd Wright at the Phoenix Art Museum Tour

Today we travel to downtown Phoenix to take in a special exhibit celebrating the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Taliesin West, Wright’s winter home, studio and architectural campus located in Scottsdale.

Frank Lloyd Wright: Organic Architecture for the 21st Century is the first exhibition to explore Wright and his relevance today through a survey of more than 40 projects, including his vision for the decentralized city, presented through rarely seen drawings, scale models, furniture, films and photographs. We will be joined by a museum docent who will tour us through this exhibit presented in the Steel Gallery of the art museum.

Enjoy a no-host lunch in their museum café. Then we journey to The Melting Pot where we grab our fondue forks and enjoy dipping our treats into yummy chocolate contained in the communal pots! What a fun way to top off this enjoyable day!

We begin our day with a visit to The Rosson House located in downtown Phoenix. This 2800 square foot beautiful home built in 1895 represents life during Arizona’s territorial days.  The Victorian style home is a delight to tour.

Then we head to Chandler to the Fashion Square Mall so that you can grab a bite for lunch. They have a great food court as well as other restaurants and shops. You can have a quick shopping experience during our visit here.

Then we head to Gilbert. The matinee performance of this classic musical is a story of hard work, being in the right place at the right time, talent and love. 42nd Street is a celebration of Broadway and the people involved in shows. It focuses on aspiring chorus girl Peggy Sawyer, and takes us along on her journey. Hits include You’re Getting to Be a Habit with Me, Dames, We’re In The Money and Forty-Second Street. You’ll love this story and seeing the underdog succeed!

Spring Training Baseball Game
Arizona Diamondbacks vs San Francisco Giants
March 20, 2012 – Tuesday

We will be doing a trip to the new Spring training home for the Arizona Diamondbacks (National League West Champions!) team at the Salt River Fields. This 11,000 seat capacity ballpark is the 1st major league baseball spring training facility to be built on Indian land in the nation. Enjoy the game and the spectacular landscape of Camelback Mountain, the McDowell Mountains, Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains and Red Mountain.

Canyon Lake Boat Tour
on the Apache Trail

Today we will board our deluxe motorcoach and travel to Canyon Lake, which is located north of Apache Junction. We’ll make a rest stop in Florence. 

For lunch we travel to the Mining Camp Restaurant. This eatery is full of western atmosphere and the platters of food served to our group will make your eyes pop. Then we travel along the paved portion of the Apache Trail. Tucked in to the base of the Superstition Mountains is a beautiful man-made lake called Canyon Lake. We board Dolly's Steamboat and cruise Canyon Lake as the captain narrates on the scenery, geology and history of the area.  Steep canyon walls ascend out of a crystal blue body of water. This makes for a very enjoyable 1 and 1/2 hour cruise. We travel home today full of great memories of this wondrous part of the state. Join us!
