Cezanne
Phoenix Art Museum & Basha’s Art Gallery Tour

This trip can only be described as “candy for the eyes” as we explore wonderful works of art!
We begin our morning with a visit to the Phoenix Art Museum for the “Cezanne and American Modernism” exhibit. French master Paul Cezanne, one of the most recognizable names in art, is celebrated worldwide for his Post-Impressionist masterpieces. This exhibit is the first exhibition to examine Cezanne’s influence on American artists working between 1900 and 1930 by bringing together 16 of the French master’s paintings and works on papers with more than 80 works by 33 American artists, including Marsden Hartley, Prendergast, Gorky and Man Ray. This will be a self guided visit with an audio guide.
After our visit to the museum we enjoy a delightful lunch at My Florist Café.Then onto Chandler to visit the Zelma Basha Salmeri Gallery of Western American and Native American Art. This wonderful collection of art includes oil paintings, watercolors, bronze, wood and stone sculptures as well as basketry, pottery and kachinas. Be prepared for a visually

Southern Arizona Ramble

We have put together some special places south of Tucson and have come up with a really wonderful Fall ramble.
We begin our day with a journey to Patagonia to attend their Fall Festival. Browse the abundant craft booths, fine arts stands and food vendors all located in the cool, shady setting of Patagonia Town Park.
We then travel around the mountain to the little village of Carmen. A stop at the Spice Factory is a must! While in Carmen we treat ourselves with a special sweet stop at Wisdom’s Café. Are you ready for a fruit burro – ala mode!
En route back to Tucson we stop to visit the San Xavier Mission. This National Historic Landmark was founded by Father Kino in 1692 and is a delight to visit. Come enjoy this really nice fall day with us!

Mount Lemmon Tour

Today we journey to a summit within the Santa Catalina Mountains to visit Summerhaven and Ski Valley. We take you to an elevation of 9,000’ where temperatures are at least 25 degrees cooler than the valley below!
The ribbon of road from the base to the top takes you from the Sonoran Desert to the aspen-covered peaks as you pass massive rock formations and overlooks that will take your breath away.
A delicious lunch is on our agenda at the Iron Door Restaurant. Enjoy a peaceful ride on the ski lift as it shuttles you to the summit of the mountain past the quivering aspens and tall green pines. Some free time to stroll the tiny community of Summerhaven is also planned before we journey back down to the desert floor.

Explore the food court before we head to Gilbert for a matinee performance of “The Happiest Millionaire”. This zany comedy is the (mostly) true story of eccentric Philadelphia millionaire Anthony Biddle. The Biddle mansion is the gathering place for a boxing class, pet alligators and would-be opera singers. Biddle’s daughter wants to marry wealthy Angie Duke, but his parents are shocked by the Biddles’ freewheeling lifestyle. How this play resolves itself provides a fun afternoon of laughs.
