New Orleans and Mardi Gras Parade
(Pre-Fat Tuesday) Tour
February 9 - 13, 2012

Have you ever wanted to go to New Orleans to attend a parade but did not want to hassle with the crowds and complicated logistics? Here is your chance to take in all of the sights and sounds of this annual Carnival event while we handle all of the arrangements!

We fly, our first morning to New Orleans, via American Airlines. After our arrival in “America’s Most Unique City” we will transfer to the Embassy Suites located downtown. This evening enjoy a get acquainted dinner with your fellow travelers.

Our second day we start out with a visit to Mardi Gras World. This place is truly magical as it is the location of the building and storing of many of the floats, props and sculptures used by the many krewes who participate in the various parades. Then board a carriage for a ride through the French Quarter as you are leisurely led past many landmarks of New Orleans’ heritage. Free time to wander on your own to explore the shops, restaurants, unique streets and courtyards that make up the Quarter and Jackson Square.

This evening we embark on a delightful dinner and jazz cruise aboard the Steamboat Natchez. The morning of day three we take in the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. The exhibits here contain penguins, sharks and other deep sea creatures from all over the world. Then we take position on St. Charles Avenue for the Mardi Gras parade that starts in the afternoon and stretches into the evening. And yes, the traditional beads will fly! (These parades are pre-Fat Tuesday events)

Day 4 we enjoy a visit to the National World War II Museum. The exhibits here recognize the significance of World War II and the men and women who led us to victory in this war that changed the world. We then treat ourselves to a delicious meal at the Court of Two Sisters Restaurant located in the French Quarter. Afternoon finds us taking part in a walking tour of the lovely Garden District. Enjoy the architectural splendor of this live oak-tree lined neighborhood as our guide shares the legend and lore of this sector of New Orleans.

Our final day we travel to Houmas House Plantation and Gardens which is located along Louisiana’s Great River Road. This restored antebellum mansion and the gardens are a delight to visit. Afternoon flight back to Tucson.

Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco Tour
February 10 - 13, 2012

We've packaged this trip to the Bay area so that we can visit the wonderful sights this beautiful city is famous for. The highlight of the trip is the Chinese New Year Parade - 2012 is the "Year of the Dragon" but we have other intriguing items planned for you to enjoy on this 4 day and 3 night journey.

We fly to Oakland on our first day via Southwest Airlines. We transfer to the Hilton San Francisco Financial District and after check-in we enjoy a delicious banquet at the Empress of China Restaurant.

Our second morning we enjoy a Walking Tour of historic China Town, the oldest in North America. Our guide will help us discover the densest neighborhood in San Francisco and navigate us through street mazes to show us the many hidden sides of Chinatown. We’ll have lunch at the Fog Harbor Fish House, then take time to explore Fisherman’s Wharf. A ride aboard a world famous Cable Car is a must!

Late afternoon finds us taking our reserved bleacher seats at the Southwest Chinese New Year parade which has been named one of the top ten Parades in the world and one of the few remaining night illuminated Parades in the country. Nowhere in the world will you see a lunar New Year Parade with  more gorgeous floats, elaborate costumes, ferocious lions and of course the spectacular Golden Dragon. It takes a team of over 100 men and women to carry this dragon.

The morning of Day 3 we are joined by a local step-on guide who will give us a City Tour. After a delightful brunch at the Cliff House Restaurant we visit the Asian Art Museum which is one of largest museums in the Western world devoted exclusively to Asian Art. Our final day enjoy a scenic Bay Cruise before boarding an afternoon flight from Oakland for our return home.

Death Valley Tour
March 12 - 16, 2012

Death Valley National Park contains a wealth of geological wonders! Awesome canyons and mighty mountains combine with sculpted rock formations and isolated valleys to bring an array of sightseeing on this trip.

Day 1 finds us traveling from Southern Arizona to Lake Havasu City. Visit the London Bridge before we check into our overnight accommodations at the Nautical Inn located on Lake Havasu.

Day 2 finds us taking a Jet Boat up the Colorado River. We board an enclosed boat and settle in as our narrated trip helps us discover the wildlife and geology of the Topock Gorge on the Colorado. We reboard our coach at Needles and travel to Baker, California for a lunch stop and then on to Death Valley National Park which encompasses over 3.3 million acres! We will enjoy afternoon touring of the lower end of the canyon and discover such sights as Badwater (lowest point in the Western Hemisphere) and Devil’s Golf Course. We check into our comfortable accommodations for the next two nights at the Furnace Creek Ranch.

Day 3 we visit Scotty’s Castle which is an amazing location in this isolated region. Ubehebe Crater is also on the agenda as is a visit to Zabriskie Point. While at Furnace Creek we will include free time so that you can relax, swim (their spring-fed, flow through pool is a constant 84 degrees) and enjoy the property.

Day 4 we depart Death Valley and journey back to Nevada. We stop at the impressive Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center before we enjoy a lunch stop in Las Vegas. We travel to Laughlin for an overnight stay at the Golden Nugget Hotel/Casino. Our final day we begin our journey back to Southern Arizona where a stop for lunch at Rancho de los Caballeros guest ranch is planned. Join us!

Jekyll Island, Savannah, Charleston
and Myrtle Beach Tour
March 24 - 30, 2012

Beauty, excitement and history, we offer it all in this great Springtime tour. Savannah, the gracious “City of the South”; Charleston, a city of history and charm both combine to make this area a popular destination. Step into another era as you capture the beauty of the azalea-bordered streets and the elegant Victorian homes. Other highlights on this 7 day and 6 night trip include Jekyll Island, Georgia and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 

On day 1 our flight arrives in Jacksonville, Florida in the early evening and after a stop for dinner we travel to the Hampton Inn/Suites on Jekyll Island and settle in for a two night stay.

We enjoy, on the morning of day 2, a guided tour of the Island’s celebrated Historic District. We treat ourselves to a delicious buffet lunch at the beautiful Jekyll Island Club and then spend some time in the afternoon touring the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Meet the patients (the turtles) who are rehabbing from illness or injury at this unique facility.

Day 3 we travel to Savannah and upon arrival we will transfer onto a trolley for a tour. Savannah’s famed landmark Historic District is the largest urban landmark district in the US. Within this 2.5 square mile area you will discover natural beauty, charm, architecture and the history of the Old South. Our trolley guide will take us by several historic squares (there are 21) featuring streetscapes of live oaks, brick lined thoroughfares and Victorian-era homes. We treat ourselves to a delicious lunch at Paula Dean’s The Lady and Sons Restaurant. Finish the day by touring one of the stately old mansions that makes Savannah so charming. The evening is yours to browse historic River Street and City Market. We lodge tonight at The Mulberry Inn ya’ll.

After a hearty breakfast, day 4 finds us traveling to Charleston. Before arriving in town we have a tour and lunch planned at the Charleston Tea Plantation, located on Wadmalaw Island. You will learn first-hand how tea is made and take a ride through the tea fields. Upon arrival in Charleston we board a horse-drawn carriage for a tour where you will discover the cobble stoned streets and flower laden corners that are just dripping with history! From the Revolutionary War, the Civil War or the Civil Rights era this American city has really embraced its past. We overnight at The Mills House hotel.

Day 5 strap on your walking shoes because we will be joined by a walking history tour guide who will help us further explore Charleston. We then travel to Brookgreen Gardens which is the world’s largest outdoor collection of American sculpture all tucked into beautiful gardens. This afternoon we check into the Island Vista Myrtle Beach hotel, which is an oceanside property, for a two night stay.

Day 6 we enjoy the local sights including the Ripley’s Aquarium and take time for a leisurely cruise on the scenic Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. This evening finds us taking our reserved seats at the Carolina Opry for a great show filled with a mix of gospel music, comedy, drama and Broadway.

Day 7 we travel to Charlotte, North Carolina for an afternoon flight back to Tucson. Join us for this wonderful Springtime adventure.

Hooray for Hollywood!
Featuring Cirque du Soliel’s IRIS
March 29 - April 1, 2012

En.ter.tain.ment; the act of entertaining: agreeable occupation for the mind; diversion; amusement. That is the exact theme for this great 4 day and 3 night trip to the Hollywood area where we stay for 3 nights at the Courtyard Marriot in Sherman Oaks, California.

Day 2 we’ll amuse ourselves with a wonderful Warner Brothers Studio Tour. This tour gives you the actual feeling of what a working studio is like as we visit some sets, prop rooms and a sound stage. Bring your camera and keep your eye peeled for star sightings. After lunch we travel to the Nethercutt Museum which is nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. JB Nethercutt (nephew of Merle Norman cosmetics founder) developed a love for antique cars soon after his arrival in Southern California. As his fortune grew in the cosmetics company so did his car collection. Day 3 we welcome aboard a local city tour guide/history entertainer, Mr. John Daugherty who will lead us on a guided motorcoach tour to show us many of the iconic locations in Hollywood and along Sunset Blvd. Lunch at Hollywood and Highland is planned before we arrive at the Kodak Theatre (the place that hosts the Academy Awards) for the matinee performance of Cirque Du Soleil’s newest production – IRIS! This show is a lyrical, fanciful, kinetic foray into the seventh art –cinema. 72 performing artists come together for dance, acrobatics, live video, filmed sequences and animation!

This 3 day and 2 night trip combines fabulous scenery with fascinating history. Our first day finds us boarding our motorcoach and traveling Interstate 10 to the Phoenix valley and then on to Sedona. We’ll enjoy a narrated Sedona trolley tour that will show us this wonderful Red Rock region. Then it’s on to Flagstaff to check into the Drury Inn for a two night stay.  This evening finds us enjoying a delightful dinner at Black Bart’s Steakhouse. 

Day two we travel to the Desert View Watchtower at the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Here we’ll be joined by a step-on guide who will share the geological and human history of this special National Park. We arrive at the Grand Canyon Village and you will have time to explore this region as well as enjoy a delicious lunch at the El Tovar Hotel dining room.  The afternoon finds us settling in to the IMAX theatre in Tusayan for “Grand Canyon – The Movie”. Utah National Parks Tour
Zion, Bryce, Capital Reef, Arches and Canyonlands
April 22 - 27, 2012

Awesome, magnificent, awe-inspiring – these are just a few of the adjectives you will use to describe the scenery this trip offers. We have combined 5 National Parks and a National Recreation area called Lake Powell to create this once-in-a-lifetime trip.

We then travel to Capitol Reef National Park. Here we will discover the sandstone formations, cliffs and canyons, and a 100 mile-wide long bulge in the earth’s crust known as a monocline. Canyon de Chelly and Monument Valley Tour
May 1 - 4, 2012

Grab your camera and join us on this 4 day and 3 night adventure as we travel to the Northern part of Arizona to discover an enchanting territory. Our first day, we depart Southern Arizona and travel, via Salt River Canyon, to the White Mountains. We have a lunch stop before continuing on to Chinle and the Thunderbird Lodge, located at the mouth of Canyon de Chelly. We settle in for the evening.

The morning of day 2 we will board specially designed jeeps that take us onto the canyon floor where pueblo style ruins tucked into the caves and rock shelters abound. These ruins were occupied during a period of 348 to 1300 AD. Today Navajo families make their living by farming and ranching the valley floor. All of this is surrounded by marvelous geologic formations and stunning scenery. After the Jeep Tour we travel to Goulding's Lodge in Monument Valley for an overnight stay.

Day 3 finds us boarding jeeps that take us on a 17-mile scenic loop drive of Monument Valley, along with entering restricted areas which include beautiful arches, ancient ruins, and rock art. We will also visit a Navajo Hogan where we will watch a rug-weaving demonstration by a local artist. After lunch and a stop at Cameron Trading Post, we head to Flagstaff where we treat ourselves with lodging at Little America Resort. Dinner tonight is at Black Bart's Steakhouse - a Flagstaff favorite!!!

May 7 to 13, 2012

Day 1 – Fly from Tucson (or your home city) to Columbus, Ohio to begin this wonderful 7 day and 6 night tour. We meet our motorcoach and driver and transfer to our hotel in Central Ohio – Drury Inn in Grove City. Enjoy a get acquainted dinner with your fellow travelers before settling in for the night. (D)

Day 2 – We travel to Ohio Amish Country and begin with a visit at the Amish and Mennonite Heritage Center. Discover the unique culture of the Amish as we welcome a local guide aboard our coach. A simple lunch served in an Amish home is planned. Afternoon we continue our sightseeing with a school house tour and a buggy ride! We check into the Inn at Amish Door for a two night stay. (B,L,D)

Day 3 – We continue on our tour of the Ohio Amish Country and highlights today include Pioneer Equipment, a visit with an Amish Basketmaker and Lehman’s Hardware. Afternoon highlights include a local leather worker, Keim lumber and a stop at the Walnut Creek bulk foods store. Warther Carving Museum is also on our agenda. Day 4 – Depart the Ohio Amish Country and travel to Louisville, Kentucky. Our first stop will be to the “Kentucky Show” which is a large screen multi-media experience. We check into the historic Galt House hotel, located in the heart of Louisville, for a three night stay. Tonight we enjoy dinner and a cruise on the Ohio River aboard the Belle of Louisville. (B,D)

Day 5 – This morning we’ll enjoy breakfast at the backstretch at Churchill Downs and then tour this iconic Thoroughbred racetrack. This afternoon we travel to Bardstown, Kentucky for a tour of My Old Kentucky Home State Park (yes, the song written by Stephen Foster) and a tour and tasting at the Heaven Hill Distillery.  (B,D)

Day 6 – We travel to Lexington, Kentucky known as the horse capitol of the world! We enjoy a sightseeing tour of a horse farm giving us a rare look inside a working farm. We also tour the Kentucky Horse Park which is known as the epicenter of equestrian life. This beautiful park is dedicated to man’s relationship to the horse. (B,D)

Santa Fe and Taos Tour
May 28 - June 1, 2012

“The City Different” is a world-renowned travel destination and this 5 day and 4 night coach tour will show you this city known for its rich history, heritage, arts and culture. We begin our tour with a pleasant drive from Southern Arizona to Santa Fe, nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We will lodge all 4 nights at the Hilton Santa Fe which is within walking distance of the historic plaza and all its shops and attractions.

Day 2 we will participate in a walking tour which will help us discover the rich history and celebrated spirit of this wonderful region filled with historic architecture and famous characters. A visit to the Loretto Chapel, home of the miraculous staircase, is planned as is a stop at the Palace of the Governors. Pacific Coast Highway 1, Monterey and the Napa Valley Wine Train 4th of July Tour
July 1 - 6, 2012

It’s been said that nothing is certain in life except death, taxes and the heat in July… That’s not the quote exactly but you know what we are getting at. Isn’t it time you make your July 4th plans to explore great sights while being whisked out of the desert for a much needed respite?

We begin our tour with a short flight to Los Angeles where we board a coach for our 6 day and 5 night adventure. Today’s destination is San Luis Obispo. We have a welcome dinner planned and we lodge at the unique Madonna Inn with it’s imaginative interior design and architecture.

Day 2 we travel Pacific Coast Highway 1 to Hearst Castle. Experience first hand the majesty and beauty of this historical treasure. We take in the Grand Rooms Tour. After lunch we enjoy the magnificent vistas and views along the Big Sur section of Highway 1 as it winds and hugs the cliffs and we cross over several historic bridges to our destination of Monterey. We check into the Casa Munras Hotel for a two night stay. Enjoy dinner at Bubba Gump’s tonight.

Day 3 we take in the sights along the famous 17-mile drive - like the Lone Cypress.  A real treat is in store for us as we enjoy a delightful lunch at the Pebble Beach Lodge. Afternoon finds us exploring the Monterey Bay Aquarium which is located next to Cannery Row.

Day 4 we travel to San Francisco to enjoy a wonderful cruise on the Bay. Free time at Fisherman’s Wharf is also on the agenda before we make our way to Napa to check into the Embassy Suites for a two night stay. Late afternoon we board the Napa Valley Wine Train and settle into our seats in their dome car for a lovely dinner. A stop in Yountville to take in their fireworks display is planned before returning to the station. What a unique way to celebrate our country’s Independence!

Day 5 we explore the region with a visit to historical Sonoma and its plaza. We visit the Buena Vista Winery for a tasting and picnic lunch before returning to Napa. The 6th and final day finds us traveling to the city of Oakland and visiting the Oakland Museum of California which brings together collections of art, history and natural science to tell the story of California and its people. This afternoon we board our flight back to Tucson.

Laguna Pageant of the Masters Tour, California
July 16 - 20, 2012

We combine special events and sights to make this a really unique tour. We motorcoach to Southern California where we check into the Ayres in Costa Mesa for a 4 night stay.  We will enjoy a get acquainted group dinner this evening.

On day 2 we take in the Mission San Juan Capistrano. Founded in 1776 by Fr Junipero Serra, the mission has been lovingly maintained and it is a peaceful spot to explore. We head to Huntington Beach for lunch at Duke’s located at the foot of the pier. This afternoon we board gondolas (yes! Gondolas) and gently cruise the enchanting canals and waterways of Naples Island near Belmont Shore in Long Beach, CA.

On day 3 we begin our morning with a short journey to Newport Beach where we board the Catalina Flyer for a 90 minute boat trip to sunny Avalon on Catalina Island. We have planned to take you on two tours; The Avalon Scenic Tour, which shows us the highlights of the main community on the island and The Casino Tour, which has been preserved in its original art-deco style. Enjoy some free time visiting the great shops and eateries Avalon offers before heading back to the mainland.

Day 4 finds us traveling to Los Angeles for a visit to the Getty Center Museum.  This world renowned museum presents the Getty’s collection of art from the Middle Ages to present. Alaska!
August 5 - 11, 2012

Day 1 - We begin our tour with coach transfer to Phoenix and enjoy a box breakfast en route. We then fly from Phoenix to Anchorage (via Seattle) on board Alaska Airlines. Upon arrival in Anchorage we transfer to our overnight hotel – the Comfort Inn Ship Creek. (B,D)

Day 2 – This morning we travel south along the scenic Turnagain Arm on the Seward highway, designated an All-American Road. The Kenai Peninsula is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. Seward lies at the head of Resurrection Bay and is a year-round port surrounded by beautiful mountains. Today, we climb aboard a sightseeing cruise to explore the spectacular Alaskan marine ecosystem. You’re likely to encounter Stellar sea lions, sea otters, harbor seals and multiple seabirds like puffins and cormorants. With luck, we may even catch glimpses of humpback whales, orcas and porpoises traveling through Resurrection Bay. This cruise will take us alongside active tidewater glaciers, where we will hopefully see chunks of glacier ice “calving” into the water. Once we return to the harbor we will transfer to our hotel for the evening – The Seward Windsong Lodge. (B,L)

Day 3 – Enjoy a scenic drive into Kenai Fjords National Park to Exit Glacier. We’ll walk the easy trail to discover how glaciers like this have reshaped the landscape of Alaska and how plant life reclaims the barren land exposed by a glacier’s retreat. Then we travel North back to Anchorage. Along the way we stop at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center which is a spot dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through public education. A sightseeing tour of Anchorage will include the historic downtown area, the Ship Creek fish ladder and Lake Hood – the largest float plane base in North America. Then we check into the Comfort Inn Ship Creek. (B)

Day 4 – All aboard for an unforgettable rail adventure on the Alaska Railroad! Travel in style in the Midnight Sun domed railcar, complete with an open-air viewing deck and first class dining service. Enjoy the scenery as you pass through the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. Enjoy lunch on the train. We make a brief stop in the small town of Talkeetna, best known as the staging area for expeditions to Mt McKinley. Once we leave Talkeetna, the train will take you into the Alaska Range where you will have views of mountains, glaciers, rivers and canyons. The remainder of the ride to Denali is considered the most scenic, passing over the incredible Hurricane Gluch, all the while in the shadow of Mt McKinley. Once we arrive at Denali National Park entrance we check into our hotel, Denali Princess for a two night stay. This evening enjoy a dinner theater at the hotel that tells the legendary adventures of the first men to scale North American’s highest peak, which is 20,000 feet tall. (B,L,D)

Day 5 – Denali National Park encompasses the heart of the 600-mile long Alaska Range, a stunning chain of peaks with many over 10,000 feet tall. The crown jewel of these mountains is Mt McKinley, popularly known as Denali. Traveling deep into the park, the Tundra Wilderness Tour offers a sub-artic experience like no other. Incredible scenery, a narrated history of the park and some of the best opportunities to view and photograph wildlife like Dall sheep, moose, caribou, and grizzly bears. When Mt McKinley is visible, it may be possible to travel to Stony Hill Overlook and view the entire mountain from base to summit. A boxed lunch has been included today. (B,L)

Day 6 – Today we travel northeast towards Fairbanks which is situated in the heart of the Tanana Valley. Fairbanks is the second-largest city in Alaska and combines modern amenities with a frontier atmosphere. Commonly referred to as “Gateway to the Artic,” Fairbanks has a long and colorful history dating back to the late 1800s and the discovery of gold. We enjoy some local Fairbanks touring before we check into the Westmark Fairbanks. A farewell dinner will be enjoyed before we settle in for the night. (B,D)

Day 7 – We depart Fairbanks and begin our journey back to Arizona. From the Fairbanks airport we fly via Alaska Airlines and transfer through Seattle and into Phoenix. After our evening transfer back to Tucson via motorcoach we’ll head to our homes with great memories of this beautiful part of the world! We look forward to showing you Alaska! (B,D)

North Rim of the Grand Canyon Trip
August 7 - 10, 2012

This 4 day and 3 night trip finds us heading to Northern Arizona where we will be wrapped in cool temperatures and green mountain vistas.

Day 1 we travel to Sedona. We will make a lunch stop and then continue up scenic Oak Creek Canyon in Flagstaff. We check into the Little America Resort/Hotel. Freshen up because we will be heading to Black Bart’s Steakhouse for a delicious get-acquainted dinner.

Our second day we climb higher onto the Kaibab Plateau until we reach the north Rim of the Grand Canyon. Less visited and less developed than the South Rim, the North rim is a real treat! We check into our very comfortable cabins for a 2 night stay and relax for the evening.

Day 3 we board our motorcoach and take a narrated tour of this pristine area! Overlooks allow us to peer deep into this natural wonder and far beyond the San Francisco Peaks. Awesome, magnificent, awe-inspiring–  these are just a few of the adjectives you will use to describe the scenery this trip offers. Day 3 we tour Bryce National Park. This park is famous for its notable geology, consisting of a series of horseshoe – shaped amphitheaters carved from the eastern edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. We then travel to Capitol Reef National Park. Here we will discover the sandstone formations, cliffs and canyons, and a 100 mile-wide long bulge in the earth’s crust known as a monocline. Late afternoon finds us checking into the Red Cliffs Lodge for a two night stay. Situated at the foot of dramatic red rock cliffs and near the shore of the Colorado River, you will love the beauty of this spot!

Day 4 finds us visiting both Arches National Park and Canyonlands. Arches is home to over 2000 arches, spires, domes and fans that dazzle the eye and boggle the mind. Canyonlands is vast and awe-inspiring. This is Utah’s largest National Park containing over 370,000 acres carved over millions of years.

Day 5 we travel through more fantastic scenery including Monument Valley. Our destination is the Courtyard Marriot in Page. Our final day we board jeeps that take us to the most visited sandstone slot canyon in the Southwest. This deep canyon has magnificent rock formations that are sculptured and colorful.
